Celebrating 50 Years of Fulfilling the American Dream

Celebrating 50 years of fulfilling the American dream

~ Forging a Future

Richard A. Kovach, a proud U.S. veteran, began his trade as an apprentice for Champion Forge, a Cleveland, Ohio based company. When the company closed, Rich saw an opportunity and began working in his own 20’x20’ garage making dies as well as maintenance on existing dies. He named the company after his son, calling it Ken Tool and Die.

As the demand for his dies grew, his customer base and employee count continued to increase. This eventually led him to a “spot”, down a winding country road, called Griggs Road, outside the village of Jefferson, Ohio. The very first building was a 2,500 sq. ft. structure designed and built by Kovach. The business continued to evolve into what is now a 500,000 sq. ft. fully integrated facility that sits on 21 acres.

Ken Forging remains a family owned business which now includes a second generation, Kovach’s son and daughter. The success of Ken Forging can be attributed to the commitment and value that is placed on its customers and employees. We pride ourselves on manufacturing the highest-quality products, while maintaining a significant amount of inventory that allows us to ship product the same day. Roland Sharp, Vice President of Kenneth G. Lilly Fasteners, shares that they have been doing business with Ken Forging for over 25 years. He goes onto say that they appreciate the high-quality products, the excellent stock and reliable delivery on special requests to be a great asset of Ken Forging.

As Richard A. Kovach would say, “That’s taking care of business!”
